2025 S4 Resident Artist Talk and Solo Open Studio
Cath Brophy (Australia｜Hong Kong)
The Season 4 Artist in Residence event brings together nine groups of artists from Taiwan, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Portugal, and Australia.
During her Taipei Art Residency program, Cath Brophy observed the Taipei’s vernacular architecture from the artistic perspective of an outsider. She combined the outline and rhythm of ordinary people's buildings, combined with quotidian resources from daily life: the common vegetable and fruit packaging in the market, paper bags in the stationery store and other everyday materials.
Through layers of recombination and superposition, it transformed into a unique art language, and also cleverly reflects the high density of the city landscape in the north. During her Artist Talk, the artist also shared her experience of living in Hong Kong and her observations from a previous residency in a small township in nearby Yilan County, bringing the architectural languages of different regions to talk to each other.
Open Studios allow artists to exhibit their works and engage in an in-depth exchange with the audiences about the city landscape and local culture. Cath Brophy will open the studio again this weekend and welcome visitors into her studio, to see her work-in-progress and chat with Open Studio visitors in person and allow us to gain insights into the city we live in in with a whole new perspective.

凱伶 • 柏菲 Cath BROPHY（澳洲｜香港）
上末，駐村藝術家 凱伶 • 柏菲 帶來一場精彩的藝術家座談與開放工作室，藝術家以都市中的常民建築形狀出發，帶大家重新觀看早已熟悉的城市地景。從建築與傳統的交會、到自然與城市的拉扯，柏菲將這些觀察轉化為複合媒材作品，重新拆解、組裝我們習以為常的空間感受。
這次的台北藝術進駐計畫，凱伶 • 柏菲以外國人的視角觀察台北巷弄之間的建築，他將常民建築的輪廓與節奏，結合市場裡常見的蔬果包裝、文具店的紙袋等日常生活取材，透過一層層的重組與疊加，轉化為獨特的藝術語彙，也巧妙映照出台北高密度的城市景觀。座談中，他也分享了自己在香港生活創作的經驗，以及過去於宜蘭駐村時的觀察，使不同地域的建築語言彼此對話。
開放工作室現場，藝術家展出作品並與觀眾對城市景觀與在地文化展開深入的交流。這週未凱伶．柏菲將再次開放工作室，歡迎大家走進空間，近距離觀看作品、和藝術家聊天，一起用全新的角度重新了解我們所生活的城市。集結了九組來自臺灣、中國、法國、德國、香港、日本、葡萄牙和澳洲的藝術家。
